Inauguriamo questo focus di profumeria 2025 - 2026 in cui andremo ad esaminare tutte le materie prime utilizzate in profumeria, spiegando le loro caratteristiche chimiche ed olfattive.

A come Acetyl Cedrene

Categoria: molecola legnosa, ambrata, secca
Origine: sintetica
Famiglia olfattiva: legnosa – ambra – balsamica
Nome chimico: 2-(2,4-dimethyl-1,3-pentadienyl)-3-methyl-cyclohexanone

Breve panoramica chimica

L’Acetyl Cedrene è una molecola di sintesi ottenuta a partire da componenti naturali del cedro del Texas (Juniperus mexicana), in particolare dai sesquiterpeni presenti nel suo olio essenziale.
Chimicamente è un chetone terpenico, stabile e poco volatile, apprezzato per la sua capacità di arrotondare le note legnose e di migliorare la persistenza delle fragranze.

È presente in moltissime basi ambrate e legnose e fa parte del gruppo delle cosiddette “note di fondo secche”, spesso impiegate come scheletro nei profumi extrait de parfum di ispirazione maschile o unisex. Ha la caratteristica di risultare molto 'asciutto' al naso; noi dei Laboratori Sabatel diciamo che è una nota 'piacevolmente soffocante', perchè quando viene avvertita si ha quasi la sensazione che le narici si chiudano in modo asciutto e si faccia fatica a respirare. Ma è una sensazione stranamente piacevole :) :)

Profilo olfattivo: di che sa l’Acetyl Cedrene?

Il suo odore è caldo, secco, elegantemente legnoso, con una sfumatura ambrata e balsamica, talvolta leggermente fumé.

Ricorda:

il legno di cedro appena tagliato,

una scrivania antica in mogano,

il calore resinoso di un incenso lontano.

In confronto ad altre molecole legnose come Iso E Super o Cashmeran, l’Acetyl Cedrene è più asciutto e ambrato, meno vellutato, più strutturante.

Utilizzo in profumeria

Usato in concentrazioni dal 2 al 10 % nel concentrato, l’Acetyl Cedrene:

dà corpo e persistenza alle note di fondo legnose;

armonizza i legni secchi con le note ambrate;

migliora la diffusione di molecole più volatili.

È una componente chiave di:

basi legnose-ambrate,

accordi orientali secchi,

profumi boisé-chypre,

note maschili classiche (sandalo, patchouli, vetiver).

Nei Laboratori Sabatel ci piace associarlo a note di testa che ricordano gli idrocarburi / la trementina per creare un gioco di contrasti tra la freschezza sintetica della testa e il fondo secco della coda.
